Getting around the city

Parma has a well-organised network of buses and taxis. The town is however not difficult to explore on foot. The centre of Parma is Piazza Garibaldi, which was built over an ancient Roman court. The surrounding historic area is filled with stunning ancient palaces, boutiques, shops and bars. The other most favourite area in the city, behind the river, is called Oltretorrente. In the recent years, it has undergone a major modernisation work, yet it still retains its historic feel.
